In all seriousness though the shark is probably the best aquatic pet for unmerged combat because it gives it self a tonne of quickness. For merging it's not different to normal combat, you want a ferocious pet for the stat boost plus access to worldly impact. That means one of the devourers, tiger or the arctodus.
I play power soulbeast so I typically use the obvious ferocious pets like Smokescale and the Rock Gazelle, but I’ve recently become a big fan of the less typical pets, such as Jacaranda and Siamoth. The important thing is that pets need to be both engaging for the players to use and to fight against. A lot of players hate pet builds because of the reasons I listed.
